I name this food the "crazy corn pommes" because they are made in
such an unbelievably easy way with only minimum ingredients.
Actually this recipe was born while i was testing my mini arepas.
I make my arepas with almost the same ingredients as well.
This snack will calmly ease your fast food / chips cravings.
There are a lot of corn meal in the store.
But please select this white or yellow pre-cooked corn meal.
They are not polenta, nor corn flour.(and of course not corn starch at all)

Ingredients (for 8 sticks)
1/2 cup Harina de mais (Pre-cooked corn meal)
1/2 cup + 30ml Hot water(90℃)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp Greek mixed spice ( Any spice you like)
Oil for frying ( I use about 50ml of peanut oil usually)
You could use olive oil , I also do so sometimes.
But the pommes are not going to be crispy enough.
In the workshop I use peanut oil.
Select your choice of heat stable oil.
STEP 1
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
STEP 2
Pour in all the boiled water.

STEP 3
Stir with a spoon.
STEP 4
It forms a lump that looks like dried mash potato.
And it's time to form a ball with wet hands or using a plastic wrap.

STEP 5
Just for a ball like shape first then wrap it.
They are not sticky.

STEP 6
Make it flat and then into this rectangular shape.
Optionally support the edge of the dough with using 2 sticks so it will be evenly flat. Nothing will stick to hand at this point.

STEP 7
Unwrap the dough and slice into 8-9 sticks with using a wet knife.

STEP 8
Warm oil in a frying pan.
Fry them until golden. (Each side takes 2-3 minutes)
When you want to flip sides, please only touch the golden crispy side.
The white part is too soft and fragile.

STEP 9
Fry them until golden.

Done :)
Serve it with some lemon/salt.
