Flat beans Aglio e Olio (side dish)

Have you ever paid attention to this green beans in a market?

It’s something seasonal in Germany at the moment.

You can find them at most super market and they are like 2EUR for 500g.

If you haven’t you must try them right now.

They are very tasty despite appearances and really easy to cook.

Ingredients for 2servings

200g flat beans

100g bell pepper

1tbsp olive oil (or roasted sesame oil for asian taste)

1tbsp brewer’s yeast

1tbsp soy sauce

1tsp chili flakes

1stp finely chopped garlic

Black pepper to taste.

Roasted peanuts or sesame seeds(optiona

STEP1

Chop veggies

STEP 2

On a heated frying pan drizzle some olive oil and fry garlic at low heat.

STEP 3

Sauté the flat beans for 2 or 3 minutes.

The colour will change to a slightly darker green.

STEP 4STEP 4

Sauté the sliced bell peppers for another 2 mins with the flat beans.

STEP 5

Add chili flakes and brewer’s yeast at this point. (low heat)

Stir fry them quickly.

STEP 6

Finally, drizzle over the soy sauce and turn off the heat.

You can add boiled pasta too ,if desired.

Serve the beans with black pepper and roasted peanuts as topping.

I'll say it again.

They taste better than how they look. So don’t ignore them in stores.

By the way this recipe was originally my asparagus recipe.

So you can also cook green asparagus with the same method.

Enjoy :)
