I'm into Ethiopian food at the moment.
"Gomen" is Ethiopian Collard Green dish.
They are usually made with collard green or sometimes with kale or spinach.
However in Berlin it's just hard to find these thick greens.
So I decided to make" Gomen Berlin edition" with lettuce .
And here is the result.

I could eat a whole head of lettuce for a dinner.
And I also made it milder without Jalapeño.
These are pimentos and they are pretty common in Berlin. Not spicy at all.
You can replace Jalapeño with pimento for the flavor.

Ingredients for 2-3 side dish portions
100g finely chopped onion
2 clove of garlic
0.5cm ginger
1tbsp olive oil
Leaves from one Kopfsalad= lettuce (250g)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 pimentos chopped (optional)
STEP 1
Chop your lettuce and pimentos.

STEP 2
Heat up some oil in a frying pan.
Sautee onions first, then add garlic & ginger.

STEP 3
When aromatics are fragrant , add pimentos, lettuce, salt and pepper.
Unlike collard greens everything cooks really fast.

STEP 4
When the greens are tender ,it's done:)
Gomen is one of these greens served on injera with many other things.
You could serve it just like this image with a flat bread of your choice.

I served my Gomen with Misir Wot and rice.
